Bananas for the Banana

March 14, 2010

Yesterday was such an off day for me. I procrastinated even MORE than usual yesterday morning and didn’t get out for my run until after 1:00. I didn’t fuel properly and totally paid for it. I have such a hard time eating enough in the morning and it bites me in the ass every time.

Lola and I ran about 2.5 v e r y  s l o w miles on a local trail. While the trail was nice, it was closer to the road than I expected which meant I couldn’t let Lola off her leash and she wanted to stop and smell the “roses” every 30 seconds. It was just nice to get out of the gym and off the treadmill!

On the way back from the trailhead I had the tiniest little pink lady apple & half of a banana bread Larabar (I’m officially obsessed; is it bad to eat them everyday? Actually nevermind, I don’t care either way!).

I headed over to the gym to do lower body strength training and as soon as I got there I knew I was in trouble. I did a few more miles on the treadmill because those 2.5 miles seemed too easy and then I managed to get through my strength training. But as soon as I was finished I was exhausted! I was going to do abs but I said screw it, I need to eat! I should know better than to wait until 4:00 pm to eat lunch even when I have a snack at 2:00 pm.

I was a food blogger failure yesterday and didn’t take a single picture of what I shoved in my mouth. Ooops! I was just too ravenous to even think about photographing my food. I enjoyed many things like celery & hummus, FSTG cracker-chips (I totally finished the bag in two days!), leftover chicken breast, pineapple, and dried mango. Definitely not balanced. Definitely yummy. (Note: this is not everything I ate yesterday! I don’t even remember everything!)

Dinner was ugly and boring, so no pictures. Who am I kidding, it was gone before I even thought about taking a picture!

I watched this PBS/Nova special on Hulu last night and I cried! It was about 13 previously sedentary people training for the Boston Marathon. You should all watch it and cry too so that I don’t feel so silly! I also cried when I watched Spirit of the Marathon! I don’t know why but people finishing marathons makes me weepy, it’s just so inspiring!

Moving on…

I was inspired by Ms. Janetha to pick up some Smucker’s sugar-free preserves last time I was at the market and I was super siked to try them this morning on my new Food For Life Bhutanese Red Rice bread, which I am also officially obsessed with. I don’t miss regular bread at all!!!!!

Unfortunately, my experience with the preserves was not so good. I licked the knife after I spread my preserves and it tasted like straight up chemicals! Now, I tried the strawberry variety so maybe Janetha’s red raspberry is much better. Once it was on the toast though, it was at least edible. I do not recommend eating that shit out of the jar.

Now I better get to the gym before I burn through this breakfast!

i used to eat that stuff, the smuckers and the red raspberry is waaaaaaaaay better than the strawberry. that’s coming from a strawberry-loving girl too! i eat crofters spread now. it’s soooo much tastier and it’s organic!

  2. It’s okay. “Spririt of the Marathon” made me go misty-eyed too.

Ooooh, chemical preserves – ugh. I have gotten so spoiled in recent years, picking olallieberries and making our own jam I don’t think I could eat the sugar-free chemically stuff from the jar.
